Pressed Components
Pressed components are produced using a multi-stage process that combines digital precision with traditional manufacturing techniques. This approach allows us to accurately recreate or develop metal parts that meet tight tolerances and specific performance requirements. Whether replicating rare legacy components, supporting bespoke low-volume production, or creating tooling for niche applications, pressed metal parts offer a reliable and cost-effective solution. By digitising and modelling each part in detail before pressing, we ensure consistency across every unit produced—even when working from limited or incomplete originals.
The process of creating a pressing:
- Laser scan – the pressing required is digitised this gives an accurate point cloud that represents the geometry of the part.
- CAD model – a CAD model of the part is drawn using the scan data as a guide.
- Engineering drawings – drawings are created from the CAD model to allow post pressing machining operations to be detailed.
- Tool design – the press tool is designed from the CAD model of the part.
- Tool manufacture – the press tool is CNC machined from solid tool steel.
- Pressings – the press tool is used in a hydraulic press to produce a pressing from flat sheet metal blanks.
Examples of parts we have made include:
- Wheel centre pressings.
- Oil pump filter pressings.
- Steering wheel rims.
We can assist at any stage of the process, from initial digitisation to final production.
