Pressed Components

The process of creating a pressing:

1. Laser scan – the pressing required is digitised this gives an accurate point cloud that represents the geometry of the part
2. CAD model – a CAD model of the part is drawn using the scan data as a guide
3. Engineering drawings – drawings are created from the CAD model to allow post pressing machining operations to be detailed
4. Tool design – the press tool is designed from the CAD model of the part
5. Tool manufacture – the press tool is CNC machined from solid tool steel
6. Pressings – the press tool is used in a hydraulic press to produce a pressing from flat sheet metal blanks
